I Need To Correct My Mistakes

I love it when God shoves, “Gooooooood morning child! Still here and in control,” in your face. The walk through the fog of ADHD, aspergers, bipolar disorder, manic depression, hypoglycemia, a compromised immune system and dyslexia is evidence of this fact. So is the rafter of turkeys my 11-year-old woke up to when camping a half mile from the house in the wilderness with his two cousins, sans tents. As is the herd of deer my girlfriend saw this morning in her yard. Most evident is how He shows it supernaturally when the kids get 3 hours of school work done in 30 minutes.

 

The fact is I don’t hear Him as I should all the time. We’re busy. Too busy. There are days when I don’t see home in the daylight. There are days when I don’t even talk to my husband. There are days when I want to cry from exhaustion – and none of these days are filled with the calm, hushed, steady, soothing presence of God. That is, unless I really make an effort to talk to Him.

Truth be told when I first found out our child had so many issues I felt like a failure. It had to be my fault somehow. I did drink diet soda while I was pregnant. I did get him inoculated. I went for walks on a busy street filled with city busses and their putrid exhaust fumes. I did so many things that could be the cause of his struggles. His issues could very well be 100% my fault.

 

Then again, it could be God answering prayers.

I did ask for Him to encourage us to eat healthier. I did ask for another child. I did ask for clear motivation where I couldn’t miss his voice, “Talk to me like I’m in kindergarten Lord and don’t allow me to miss Your will.”

 

It’s no mistake that each time I saw something wasn’t beneficial to our health that it appeared at the very right time. The fact that it came from several different sources, within days of prayer, goes noticed.

I was stuck in a land of chaos. This chaos included explosive behavior, a bolting child who disappeared faster than a jackal, black eyes from detonated hugs, I could go on for pages.

 

All the while as these behavioral issues ruled the day, as I waited for doctors to direct us, we prayed. Each and every time He showed us something. Over-the-counter milk was the cause of the nightly fire hose nose bleeds. Wheat, both in the form of bread and the hidden ingredient in nearly everything, was the cause of unhearable instruction. Corn syrup was the cause of his collapsing energy. Food colors were the source of frenzied behavior. Stimulants like caffeine or vitamin B12 gave focus.

 

The Lord was here and in control. With each day, He showed the way. Sometimes it took my own exhaustion to remember to reach out to Him but each time He was there. He never left. He always answered.

So Lord, when You say, “Gooooood morning child! Still here and in control,” I hear You. I am thankful to You Father for being omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. I lift my cares to You right now. I want to see Your love and guidance. Thanks for being more than I ever asked for or imagined. Four things that will make your child hyper

Our kids are suffering from poisonings. It’s time we parents stop this process of drugging our children just because it’s less work. Food is nutrition that begets health, not disease. Let’s take a stand together to nourish our families and avoid the ingredients that cause behavioral challenges. Let’s stop drugging our children with aspartame, dimethyl polysiloxane, sodium fluoride and GMO’s.

 

Aspartame

 

The inventor and patent holder of the widely used sweetener aspartame, Searle, presented a study on October 10, 1972. The study involved a 52-week oral toxicity test on infant monkeys and was called Project No. 856ot70. Seven of the monkeys died and five had grand mal seizures. Searle discovered aspartame in 1965. It wasn’t until 1981 that it was approved by the FDA under a different name. It took two more years for the FDA to approve it as a soda sweetener. Early tests of aspartame reeked havoc on the internal systems of mice and monkeys including: microscopic holes, brain tumors and seizures. Once ingested, aspartame was converted by their bodies into dangerous substances causing cancer.

Dimethyl Polysiloxane

 

Dimethyl Polysiloxane is “An anti-foaming agent for use in processing foods in ‘amounts reasonably required’.” It’s used in skimmed milk, meats, wine fermentation, syrups, soups, rendered fats and curing solvents. This product is only legal for use in the United States.

Dimethyl polysiloxane is not food. You should not eat things that aren’t food.

 

 

 

 

 

Sodium Flouride

 

Sodium Flouride is used in cereals, bottled water, tap water, powdered eggs, toothpaste, mouthwash, nail strengthener, denture care products, orange juice, berry juice, soda and other bottled drinks. Webmd sites sodium fluoride as a medicine with side effects of stomach upset, stained or pitted teeth, rash, itching and swelling particularly of the face, tongue and throat, dizziness and trouble breathing. Livestrong.com says, “Sodium fluoride is associated with the development of osteosarcoma, according to the American Cancer Society. Osteosarcoma is a cancer of the bones.” It is also known to decrease fertility and cause thyroid issues. Charles Weber, MS in soil science, says it is, “Damaging our soil and grave damage to almost every organ.”

 

Sodium fluoride is not food. You should not eat things that aren’t food.

 

 

GMO’s

 

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s) are currently being used in most packaged food products, meats, fish, poutry, produce and fruits.

 

ABC News reported, “A biotech company in Massachusetts called AquaBounty created the AquaAdvantage salmon, which is really an Atlantic salmon with an added Pacific salmon gene to make it grow faster and an added eel gene to make it grow year-round.”

 

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio has gone on record since 1992 showing his disappointment with the FDA and genetically modified foods.

 

The FDA website U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Protecting and Promoting Your Health (yes, I’m literally laughing out loud now) sites the use of cloned animals or genetically engineered animals for use in drugs and food. They also list the use of genetically engineered animals for organ donation to humans. The FDA says, “Food use animals have been engineered to provide healthier meat, such as pigs that contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids at levels comparable to those in fish.” They site positive uses for hypoallergenic pets as well as healthier meats. However, we should be safe (she writes sarcastically) because the, “FDA regulates GE animals under the “new animal drug” provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) and FDA’s implementing regulations for new animal drugs. This guidance is intended to help industry understand the requirements that are established by statute and regulations as they apply to these animals…”

 

Side affects of GMO’s are sterility, behavioral problems, diarrhea and other intestinal issues including Leaky Gut Syndrome, candida overgrowth, early puberty and numerous others.

 

GMO’s are not food. You should not eat things that aren’t food.

 

 

When dealing with kids who suffer from ADHD, autism, depression, dyslexia, compromised immune systems, etc the first rule of thumb for alternative medicine is to remove all casein and wheat. It is my unprofessional opinion that there is more to it than that! These kids are often called canaries in the coal mine as they respond to food in a way that tells us what to eat and what not to eat. Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, a well known Medical Doctor, Master of Medical Sciences in Neurology and Master in Medical Sciences in Human Nutrition has treated thousands of autistic children in her clinic with 100% success. Yet, many parents have told me, “That’s great that the diet works for you but it doesn’t work for everyone. We’ve tried it!”

If Dr. Natasha has 100% success then there is a hidden ingredient, much like those listed above, that is causing problems. Keep trying to eliminate the hidden ingredients in food so your child can be released from the drugged state caused by the food they are eating. I can discuss this topic all day. We didn’t even mention other evils like MSG, pesticides, rancidity, soy, pasteurization and many other hot topics that cause problems.

 

A lot of people secretly, and some publicly, believe a conspiracy is on the rise. The conspiracy involves food alteration for the purpose of population control and profit. Bertrand Russell, in The Impact of Science on Society, 1953, “Diet, injections, and injunctions will combine, from a very early age, to produce the sort of character the authorities consider desirable.”

I drugged my child repetitively every day

My sweet adoring child could light up the room with his smile at the same time he’d crawl into your eyes and fill you with laughing butterflies. His spirit was afire inside him emanating a glow representing joy. He was a delight. Yet after he ate, he acted as if he was on drugs. His manic behavior was out of control like a wild animal. He could dart faster than a cheetah. His explosive behavior left me with black eyes multiple times. He even stabbed me with a pencil leaving a chunk of graphite dislodged in my wrist for days. I felt crazy because my child was clearly drugged while multiple doctors told me I was putting too much emphasis on food.

When he was six we visited more doctors than we ever imagined trying to figure out what was wrong. Truth be told, I hate doctors. Their offices are a conveyor belt of live bacteria waiting for transportation. Plus you have to pay them to see them, never liked that! Then they make you wait, and wait, and wait, and frankly I was taught that was rude. Then I always left with more questions than answers and we were no closer to a solution.

While waiting for referral approval and the next appointment to the next specialist I began digging for information. Multiple studies explained and defined my child. He was autistic, suffered from ADHD, bipolar disorder, showed signs of being manic depressive, was hypoglycemic and dyslexic and clearly had a compromised immune system that was defeated by chronic croup monthly. Many studies defined him as curable! Through proper food he could be cured! Game on – ready go!

It’s six years later now and my child is normal. He shows no sign of illness. It’s been a long tiring road we have traveled but he’s well and the whole family has either lost weight or is healthier, and it’s all my son’s fault. We have no teeth issues, no illness, no pain and it’s all his fault.

We eat like God designed us to eat and we live with laughter and joy.

One doctor, Dr Natasha Campbell-Mcbride with a Degree in Medicine and Postgraduate Degrees in Neurology and Human Nutrition, is on a research mission and verified everything we uncovered. In her book Gut and Psychology Syndrome, she describes our struggle in detain and she’s never met us. On page 72 she says, “In the late 1970s it was discovered that gluten from grains and casein from milk can be turned into opiates in the digestive system, which absorb into the blood, cross the blood-brain barrier and affect the brain. These opiates were found in the urine of schizophrenic patients and those with depression and autoimmune conditions. Later on Dr Reichelt in Norway and Dr Shattock in the UK found the same compounds in the urine of autistic children.”

Patricia Allen, LMT, NTP, CGP also says, “Gluten free flours are like crack.”

Katsuzo Nishi, in his book Nishi System of Health Engineering says, “White sugar taken beyond quantum sufficit is sure to bring about accidosis which is responsible for some 75 per cent of diseases,” page 234.

“The British Journal of Psychiatry,” stated, “Eating a diet high in processed food increases the risk of depression.”

Dr. Andrew McCullah said, “An existing body of solid research shows the strong links between what we eat and our mental health.”

“When the temperature of ( Aspartame sweetener) exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants. The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus.” (Julia Shalom Jordan, “Sweet KILLER” January 24, 2013).

“Food additives, particularly artificial colors and flavors, as well as benzoate preservative, appear to increase hyperactivity in children, including those without ADD.” (Katherine Ellison “BUZZ, A Year of Paying Attention,” Voice, Hyperion, New York , 2010 p 219.

Ellison also points out in 2009 the state of Maryland was considering making benzoate ( a preservative), artificial colors and artificial flavors illegal. (Ellison, 2010 p 273)

Back in 2008, Europe called for a “ban on six artificial food coloourings after research found a link with hyperactivity in children.” (BBC News, “Europe-wide food colour ban call,” April 10, 2008.

We no longer drug our children with food. On the rare occasion when some uncircumcised-philistine-ingredient slips through the cracks we all feel it immediately. Immediately!

 

Gluten Free Sugar Free Pumpkin bread

Few things fill the house with the smell of love like pumpkin bread!  This gluten free, sugar free recipe quickly disappears. It freezes well and transports for camping like a charm.

 

The bread is always best if you beat the butter and sugar for 10 minutes until frothy. Then add the rest of the ingredients.

Recipe :

1  cup   butter

1/3 cup  maple syrup

1  T    molasses

2  cup   pumpkin

4 eggs, bug eating chickens free ranging in the yard preferred

3 1/2 t baking powder

2 cups white rice flour

1 1/2 cup  rice flour

1 1/2 cup yogurt

Once the butter and maple syrup is frothy in the mixer add molasses and cooked pumpkin. Beat well.

Your mixture will be smooth. If you still have chunks of pumpkin it’s ok, you’ll just get bites of pure pumpkin in a slice.

Add each egg one at a time until each is incorporated.

Mix in the remaining ingredients. Be careful to use an aluminum free baking powder or make your own (one teaspoon baking soda two teaspoons arrow root powder -use immediately).

Butter the bunt pan.

bake at 350` for 40 min. Stick a butter knife into the cake and if it comes out clean it’s done. Other visuals to show a finished bread are a cracking top, a light browning color and the edges pull away from the sides.

Serve with lots of Kerrygold grass fed cows butter and enjoy! yummo

Pumpkin Granola Bars

We scored pumpkins for 99 cents at Aldi so we are living the come-back of the pumpkin. My son’s favorite recipe is pumpkin granola bars which are raw except for the cooked pumpkin. If you know of a way around that please post!

 

If you do not have a dehydrator just cook them on low in the oven.

 

First we take a cup of buckwheat groats and soak them in water with apple cider vinegar to remove the phytic acid. Soak for at least 4 hours on the counter, longer is better. Drain the groats.

The base of the granola bars that hold the ingredients together is ground flax seed. I use 1 cup filtered water to 3/4 cup ground flax and stir. This will turn into a gelatinous binder that holds all the ingredients in a bar. The flax is full of fiber so you can not use too much. Add more for a more solid or thicker bar.

When you stir the flax and water together it will thicken as you let it sit.

Add one bag of white chocolate chips, one small bag of dried cranberries. You can use any kind of berry or raisin we like cranberries the best during fall. Add all the pumpkin flavoring ingredients you like best. We use a couple teaspoons of cinnamon, a 1/2 tsp of salt, a dash of nutmeg, ginger, allspice and mace.

Add all ingredients to a bowl with 2 cups of pumpkin.

Stir until incorporated.

Spread out onto dehydrator sheets. Score with pizza cutter in the shape of bars so they are easier to separate one dried.

Dehydrate until firm: 125 degrees overnight up to a day depending on the thickness of your bars. Thinner bars will dehydrate faster than thicker bars. Again, if you do not have a dehydrator you can cook them in an oven on low temp. The bars won’t be raw so you’re losing enzymes but you’re still benefiting from a very healthy snack!

Store in snack sized Zip Lock bags.

Pumpkin Granola Bars

1 cup buckwheat groats, presoakes

1 cup water

3/4 cup ground flax

1 bag white chocolate chips

1 small bag dried cranberries

2 cups pumpkin

1.5 cups coconut oil, preferably expeller pressed organic, virgin

salt

nutmeg, cinnamon, mace, allspice, ginger

stir together, spread onto dehydrator sheets. 125 degrees 12-24 hours

Sushi condement Gari, pickled ginger

Gari, or pickled ginger, is eaten as a condiment with sushi. Personally the store can never put enough gari next to my wasabi. Last week when I picked up my package of California Rolls the worker at Earth Fare told me they are going to start charging for extra ginger and wasabi, $1 a cup. The hunt for making gari began right then and there.

Ginger root that fills your hand (and then some) is considered a hand of ginger. You want to pick ginger that is low on the nub factor, high on the meat factor. First, take a hand of ginger.

Peel the ginger and slice as thin as you can. The perfect tool for the job is a mandalin. Since my fingertips tend to jump from my hand into the bowl leaving a trail of blood on the mandalin, I use a knife.

Put all the ginger slices in the bowl, sprinkle with 1/2 T salt. Mix thoroughly. Let sit one hour. Pour off juice and save for cooking some other time. Bring 1 cup sugar and 1.5 cup vinegar to a boil (rice vinegar is best). Pack ginger into jars, pour hot vinegar on top let sit until cooled, cap and refrigerate. Let the ginger sit for one week to pickle and enjoy!

Vanilla Extract and Almond Extract Recipes

Crisp fall mornings mean one thing – time to start making Christmas gifts!

This morning was clearly the time to fill up the old pickle jar with vodka, vanilla needed to brew.

With a shopping list and credit card in my pocket it wasn’t just another day. Turns out there’s a bit of trauma when you’re buying three half-gallon jugs of 70-90 proof vodka. Flashes of seeing someone identifiable began swimming in my head the second my foot hit the ground of the Walmart parking lot. As I scooted to the back of the store, where the liquor lives, my eyes darted through the isles looking for Sister Betterthanyou from church, or worse, my pastor.

By the time I got to the alcohol section my heart was beating wildly. Then I nearly swallowed my tongue when I realized there was only beer on the shelves. Vanilla extract made with beer would make some funny tasting cookies so I walked the aisles searching desperately. I scanned the patrons to size up who looked like a drinker, I needed someone who knew where the vodka lives. I was tempted heartily to swagger over to the stock boy, slur my words like the best of them so that I could ask where the vodka was shelved. Too bad I left the kids at home doing school; they could make this a real event!

Turns out Tennessee Walmarts don’t carry vodka like Georgia Walmarts.

So off to the liquor store I went with one goal – hiding my very identifiable car in a very visible parking lot.

Getting the vodka was the hardest part of making both the vanilla extract and almond extract combined! Vanilla Extract

1 pound vanilla beans, cut into half inch long strips

1 gallon vodka, 70-90 proof

Put the cut beans into a gallon jar, add the vodka and screw on the lid. Place jar in a dark spot. Different recipes call for different directions and here’s where the recipes differ: some say leave for one month and shake contents daily, others say leave for six months and shake contents every few days.
